I found myself in this profession at the age of 18. I had developed scoliosis at the age of 14 and was told I needed surgery and would never bear children. My father took me to a healer who corrected my spine and changed my perspective. I would forever be moved my her positive position on my health, she saw what was right with me, not my weaknesses.
I acquired my Reiki Masters and opened my doors as a healer at 18! I faced many criticisms that I now understand were concerns about my ability to start a business at a young age. My mother induced me to a massage program at Community College of Vermont. I started the program and gave birth to my first child. Not only had I found a direction to expand in but a new life as a mother.
Building my career around my family was my only option and a total gift. I was drawn to the healing arts to heal myself, and as a giver I wanted to learn the skills so that I could share them with others. While in school a classmate convinced me to start doing yoga. It took me a while to find my flow in yoga, but when I had my second child I used restorative yoga to heal and strengthen my body. I decided to go to some local classes. It was here that I met my mentors and was trained to teach yoga. Yoga is a passion I love to share because it puts the power to heal in the individuals hands and it is so accessible. You only need a little floor space, time and focus.
Through the years I continued my education in the fields of energy work, massage and yoga, but always yearned to be a part of the birthing process. One night as I drifted off to sleep my dreams showed me as a doula. I awoke knowing that I needed to start my path as a birthing companion. This art would incorporate all of my gifts and help bring life into the world. I believe in the good in all beings and that with proper care, alignment and peace we can all live bathing in the light of the universe. This is what I hope to help connect people too.
